You experienced a trauma and your body is fighting back. My blood pressure was low before but also shot up after Dday. I was too humiliated to tell my doctor about my wife’s ex boyfriend. He put me on blood pressure meds. They work but what has helped more in the long term is physical activity and time. When you see your doctor, as I am sure the ER doc told you to, tell her/him why you are in trauma. There are good meds for this. If you are already exercising, try to increase the time. This site is a life saver. Make use of it. Post as much as your fingers can manage. Just talking about your feelings is a great release. If you have a friend or relative to lean on, do it. From your original post I know you are normally very self sufficient and "take charge." That’s great, but you are burning up your reserves. Go talk to someone: a pastor, a friend, or a therapist. You will get through this. It will be horrible for quite a while, but you are smart and strong and will get through it.

Wishing you well, NSGE.
